Opentext Content Manager 25.4 has been released! This is the Long Term Support version for 2025 with support through to 31 October 2028.

Most of the changes build on what we saw in the 24.x series. The web client continues to improve incrementally and is clearly where OpenText wants end users to spend their time going forward. The rich client isn’t going anywhere overnight, but the direction of travel is obvious.

Under the hood, there’s ongoing work around platform compatibility and supportability. That includes alignment with newer versions of Windows Server, SQL Server, and Microsoft 365, along with general improvements to authentication and security. Nothing flashy, but important for organisations trying to keep their environments current and compliant.

There’s also some quiet but useful refinement in the ServiceAPI and integration layer. If you’re doing anything bespoke (reporting, automation, or integrating Content Manager into other business systems) these incremental improvements tend to pay off over time.

Compared to 24.x, this isn’t a step change. It’s more of a continuation: gradual uplift of the web experience, steady backend improvements, and keeping the platform aligned with modern infrastructure.

The support picture is also worth noting. 25.4 sits alongside 24.4 and 23.4 in the current supported set, and as with other .4 releases, it’s positioned as the stable point in the cycle. For most organisations, that makes it the sensible target if you’re planning an upgrade in the near term. Please get in contact with us if we can help bring you back into support.

Overall, 25.4 won’t change how you use Content Manager day to day, but it does keep things moving in the right direction. For most environments, the driver to upgrade will be supportability and platform alignment rather than new functionality - which is pretty consistent with where Content Manager has been heading for a while.
